WHAT TO REMIND YOUR LEGISLATORS
PG&E cannot be let off the hook by filing for bankruptcy. Here are some points to remind your legislators:
■ PG&E has a history of bad corporate behavior. In fact, they were on criminal probation at the time of these devastating wildfires.
■ CalFire has found them responsible for many of the 2017 wildfires and evidence strongly points to PG&E equipment in the deadly Tubbs and Camp Fires.
■ Their actions resulted in lives lost, homes and communities destroyed. If they’re allowed to file bankruptcy they are being allowed to consolidate claims against them and avoid paying California families what they deserve.
■ It’s time for lawmakers and the Public Utilities Commission to work with PG&E to keep the company solvent and prevent a bankruptcy filing that will make it difficult or even impossible to make our communities whole again.
■ Work to stop PG&E from filing bankruptcy by guaranteeing fire victims will be repaid their losses and if PG&E does file, work urgently to provide guarantees for fire victims to be repaid their losses so PG&E can emerge from bankruptcy with thousands of fire victims rights protected.
