Dear Governor-Elect Kelly,
Please accept our gratitude for your promise to sign an Executive Order reinstating protections for LGBTQ state workers in Kansas as one of your first acts as Governor. This is an encouraging step in reversing the discriminatory policies of your predecessors and prioritizing this issue inspires great confidence in your commitment to LGBTQ people.
It is more important than ever that we have leadership that supports LGBTQ equality and acceptance -- and is willing to go the distance in preventing efforts to marginalize our community. This includes adopting statewide legislation that explicitly protects LGBTQ people in the workplace.
We are also very encouraged by your promise to find ways to halt the anti-LGBTQ adoption ban. This shameful attempt to use “religious freedom” as a pretense to discriminate against LGBTQ people is not only harmful to the community but to the hundreds of thousands of children in foster care that are in need of a loving home.
There is so much work to do towards achieving true LGBTQ acceptance in Kansas. We look forward to seeing what your Administration can achieve over the next four years. Thank you again for supporting LGBTQ Kansans.

We need to do everything we can to help the LGBTQ Community and stop discrimination.
If the federal government won't protect equal rights for everyone, our states have to take a stand for whats right . I Live in Iowa and LGBTQ rights are definately enforced.. Regardless of what federal law says. Congrats to all states that will stand up for us.
All of us are immigrants to this country and all of us are created equal and should have same rights under our constitution and laws. No one, even the president, is above the law in US!
Thank you. I used to live in Kansas.
Because if people don't know how they fill about things nothen will ever change
Thank you! As the mother of a gay daughter, it makes me furious that these bigots think she is not deserving of the same protections as everyone. I've seen firsthand the damage this thinking has and can do. We need to continue to elect progressive candidates for all offices.
As a marginalized group, LGBTQ+ people need legal protections from those who would seek to destroy or undermine them.
Thank you for standing with the LGBTQ citizens of your state.
