U.S. soybean sales to China — "the largest market for one of America's largest exports" — are down 94% from last year's harvest, as retaliatory tariffs stemming from President Trump's trade war have Chinese consumers turning to less expensive trading partners, reports the NYTimes.

Yes I support the tariffs... China has been under cutting our economy for years! They try to copy American products and try to pass it off as the genuine product. Except they used the most cheapest and dangerous materials available in some incidents, putting LEAD in toys that our kids would put in the mouth or chew on! China doesn’t care about its own people and cares Even less about Americans. So HELL Yes to the Tariffs!
Trump's flexing his muscles on the word stage by creating Tariffs and Trade Wars will result in disaster for American farmers, manufacturers and the overall economy. Such appalling ignorance of how the world works is sad and dangerous.
The U.S. has been screwed over for far too long. We finally have an administration that has the balls to call out other countries for taking advantage of us.
I almost feel bad for those that did not see this coming. Namely the soy bean farmers in states like Iowa, Nebraska, Indiana and North Dakota. This what happens when you enter a trade war everyone loses.
It’s hurting farmers. Stop it.
They only let the US into a few China markets but they are in all of our markets
Why let China continue to take America to the cleaners on trade. Something has to be done and tariffs will hurt them more.
If we continue to bend to China on trade we will sell out our country and collapse. It’s basic economics. Think of it like a credit card. If you spend more on your card then you pay off who owns your money? We have to fight for fair trade, even when it hurts a little in the interim.
”But he’s a business man,” he leads the country with his business skills but they only seem to benefit businesses which interest him.
This will bring the cost of living to go up so gov could take credit when minimum wage need to be raise to support the cost of living.
COUNTABLE TELLS ME AND ASKS: "U.S. Soybean Sales to China Down 94% Thanks to Trump Trade War — Do You Support China Tariffs?" MY RESPONSE: NO! And I'm surprised the soybean producers still vote "red."
The idiot doesn’t know how to run a country! I pray he doesn’t bankrupt us like he did his businesses multiple times. Tariffs are not the way! We need diplomacy and negotiation, something foreign to Trump’s policies. I’m convinced that he must have done a lot of business with the mob. You can’t strong arm allies and expect cooperation. He’s isolating us not to MAGA, but to start world war 3. The Congress should do something to counteract tariffs and get back to open trade.
Trade tariffs between countries add no value long term (friction) and should be used only in narrow focused very public description of both sides of the issue The energy needs to be spent revamping & improving the world trade organization
Governing does not mean competing. Tarrifs need to be fair between countries. Grudge tarrifs merely close market availability and cost consumers more, hurting the market at both ends, suppliers and consumers.
Trump does not have a plan just gestures. What is the Democratic plan to address China US trade tensions?
Stupid is as stupid does!
Tariffs hurt economically, people and their family’s lives. It’s a no win!
