Word of the Day: Bump Stock

by Countable | 10.5.17

BUMP STOCK

A mechanism that allows semi-automatic weapons to mimic the firing speed of automatic weapons.

Why this word? Why today?

Twelve of the rifles the Las Vegas mass shooter had in his hotel room were modified with a “bump stock.”

The “stock” is the part of the rifle that’s held against the shoulder. Replacing the traditional stock with a bump stock allows a semi-automatic weapon to behave like an automatic weapon: when the shooter pulls the trigger, the bump stock uses the recoil to “bump” the trigger back into the trigger finger, letting the shooter fire in rapid succession.

At present time, bump stocks are not banned, though politicians on both sides of the aisle are considering legislation to ban them.

Here’s a FACT to take to the bank! Those “bump stocks” Demoncrats are freaking out about and running around like a chicken with their head cutoff (which is usually 99% of the time anyways) were approved and allowed BY the Obama Administration! Ultimate HYPOCRISY! Seriously - Demoncrats/Liberals - give up. Your race baiting, politicizing everything is quite tiresome and played out like a worn record! Just STOP before you lose over 1000 more seats across government across the country like you have over the past several years! Party is terrible!

Another word in the arsenal of arsenals. How did we go so far down the rabbit hole. What are we so damn afraid of, except, at this point, each other. Perhaps social media?...The unfortunate reality of 'social' media is that it has made it unrealistically easy to say things we would never say in person...why do we believe in hateful propaganda...and sometimes act out with that same hateful intensity. I, for one, have closed down my FB and a Twitter accounts. Try a paradigm shift for yourself👍

How sad that the NRA pressured the Republican Party is allow this massive loophole. They NRA is now doing damage control and may let this loophole to end. Fear not, they are pushing to allow silencers in Congress now.

That's fine I own a AR-15 and I aim at what I shoot. It virtually turns it into an automatic weapon. It would be fun but I don't need it. Now on the other hand the police do. And I support them 100%

While this definition is a stretch, I am neutral on bump stocks, I think as far as shooters are concerned they don't change the ability to cause damage. However, as far as the regular use of an AR I see very little practical use for this as it's somewhat comparable to cruise control on a car in that you start it up and with minimal effort it goes on it's own.
