Welcome to Thursday, friends, from all of Countable, and from me, Managing Editor Andrea Seabrook.
We have a great piece up today about the Supreme Court session that's just begun — with the newest Justice, Neil Gorsuch. It's pretty incredible how many fascinating and critical legal questions are on the docket this fall. For example,
You don't want to miss this great primer on a court session that is sure to be, as Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg put it, "momentous."
Introduced way back in January, the Puerto Rico Admission Act would allow American citizens on the (currently much beleaguered) island territory to vote on statehood. If the bill passes, Puerto Ricans could vote in Federal elections as early as 2024. What do you think? Cast your vote and tell us your take on our bill summary – Should Puerto Rico be Admitted as a State in 2025 if its Voters Opt for Statehood?
That's it for this fine Thursday afternoon. What's on your minds? Anything we missed? Let us know in the comments!

Free market capitalism is an entitlement program for the corrupt, the greedy, and the sociopathic.
Germandering: I live in a ridiculously shaped district that meanders through Wayne County, Michigan. I don’t know if Republicans or Democrats shaped it. The thing going before the Supreme Court does some magic thing with statistics involving 7% tails and party affiliation in some way. I have a much simpler formula: Limit district shaped to a ratio between perimeter and area of 2.0 to 1 or some other acceptable ratio. As an example, a rectangular district that is 6 miles by 2 miles has a perimeter 16 miles and an area of 12 square miles for a ratio of 16 divided by 12 or a ratio of 1.33 to 1. This ratio is the same whether measured in feet, kilometers or cubits. And it has nothing to do with political affiliation.
Gerrymandering should be completely outlawed. Country should be divided into orderly grid for all states, totally without political considerations. This has always been a no-brainer. Intellectual honesty demands this. Gerrymandering shows political hypocrisy at it’s worst.
With Gorsuch added to the Supreme Court I would expect the decisions to be more in in line with the Republican Party favoring corporations and the rich rather than individual freedoms. I believe that the blindfold has slipped and the scale has a finger on it.
I saw the "celebrities" who came forth to help out Puerto Rico. I prefer celebrities of a quality like, Denzel Washington, who don't think doing a good deed needs to be national news. That's a true Christian soldier.
I can not believe that our tax dollars are spent on such nonsense! It’s unbelievable! I feel sorry for them that a have to sit there all day long to make such nonsense decisions. I know it’s not pleasant for them as well,
Eliminate the Electoral College (outdated), go by popular (paper) vote! Problem solved!
Police shouldn’t search a cellphone without a warrant it’s against the constitution. Only probable cause.
Calista Gingrich should not be confirmed. Her appointment would be a slap in the face of Pope Francis.
Oh my gosh that’s all of the presidents agenda for the day. He should take a look at my routine as ESP working for the public schools. Plus much more. Especially when I had to work two full time jobs. When I was pregnant with my first son I worked four jobs.
