Good Tuesday morning, from all of Team Countable, and from me, Managing Editor Andrea Seabrook.
Yesterday we asked, "Does the new version of Graham-Cassidy get your vote?" Well Maine Senator Susan Collins must be reading the Daily Countable because by the end of the day she'd signaled that no, the latest Republican attempt to repeal Obamacare wouldn't get her vote.
That means, effectively that the GOP healthcare plan has gone from undead to re-dead, in a span of about 10 days. It was a short flick.
However! A little birdie has been fluttering around my cell phone, telling me that House Republicans now have a new, new plan in the works, making it possible that we could see a screening of Rise of the Undead II by the end of 2017. And hey, anyone in Hollywood can tell you that sequels make big money.
...including that of our President is still on football and the flag. Players, of course, have a lot to say (check out yesterday's Daily Countable) but more important — to us at Countable anyway — are your thoughts.
...is on Puerto Rico. Or the attention isn't. (Tying myself in rhetorical knots.) Whatever. Point is that pretty much no one thinks the government has done enough, fast enough to help our compatriots to the south recover from hurricane Maria, which tore Puerto Rico apart six days ago.
And listen to this: Maria combined the winds of Irma with the floods of Harvey. Imagine that hitting your state. Now imagine that your state is full of people who make, on average, half the annual median of the poorest among states, Mississippi. That's what you have in Puerto Rico right now.
Officials from FEMA as well as hundreds of aide workers are finally getting onto the island, now that ports are opening back up. But our fellow citizens have a long road ahead. Countable will keep you posted, for sure.
One thing you should never miss on Countable is our periodic feature, State of the States. The latest includes stories on:
The Miami homeowner who, right after surviving Hurricane Irma, was fined by local code enforcement for having a broken fence. ("I laughed," Perez said... 'You are kidding right? We just had a hurricane six hours ago.'")
The massive number of parking tickets North Korea has racked up — in New York City. (“It's not true. It is false. Whenever we have a ticket, we pay. Because, you know, if we have three tickets the city does not allow us to renew their permission.")
These stories (and more!) in Countable's latest State of the States.
Happy Tuesday, everyone. Looking forward to hearing what you think, on the pages of Countable. And hey — don't forget to Tell Your Reps what to do! See you tomorrow.

Get rid of the republicans voting for it. We need a congress that promotes the well being of all Americans.
Stop this stupid bill and get to work on the ACA as well as going after the: insurance gouging companies, big pharmaceutical, and for profit hospitals.
Forget the health care repeal. Put energies into fixing ObamaCare.
Why do Republicans waste so much time and taxpayer money? Do your jobs fools. (Not intended for you Senator McCain) You’re a dying breed, America is here for all of us. Not the wealthiest. Get a fecking clue. Act your age and start working for every American.
Fix Obamacare care by restoring all the money removed from all the times Republicans tried to repeal it then get to work in Impeaching #45. HOW many times will Americans stand for inciting decisiveness into America instead of bring us together and working on policies that improve our Nation- the 99%
Why on earth do you keep trying to repeal Obamacare. Stop wasting time and money and figure out ways to fix the issues. No one wants you to take healthcare from anyone. Just stop this constant quest. It has failed so many times that you should understand it is useless to try to repeal. Just get on with making Obamacare work. Then you can take credit for fixing the problems. If you put your energy into that you would truly be working for the American people.
Thanks goodness for Reps with a conscience bigger than their wallets!!! Thank you!!!
Help the hurricane victims!!!
BIPARTISANSHIP -two parties working TOGETHER to make life better for the American people. APPLY HERE: Fix the LAW of the land, the ACA.
Put everyone of these idiots on Obamacare, take their private health care away, and cut their pay they don't deserve it.
Get Rid of Obamacare !!!!
Vote against this bill at all cost. It should not be a close vote as all attempts so far are not aimed at extending health care to every citizen but to kill the idea of health care. The GOP continues to show a complete lack of compassion or concern for the American people.
Crazy it took so to get aid to them! Disgusting to not act immediately. We are obligated to help those in need. They did they same for us. Thank goodness for voting no. We can't allow the desires of the few to our weight the health of the many citizens that make up these United States.
Since everybody on the stage last night said that they support bringing prescription drugs prices down, they should start by making this a reality.
Collins, Paul, and McCain were right to reject the healthcare bill but they did it for all the wrong reasons. The Republican Senate, congressional leadership, and the party of “no”, better known as the Democrat party, care not one witt for the American taxpaying citizen. They only care to amass power and cash for themselves. The greedy few are destroying the needy many. Wait until you see the tax plan. There will be no cut or reform with any meaningful substance. The agenda of Trump is being defeated by the corrupt establishment of both parties. Does anyone remember, “taxation without representation?” We are there once again.
NOW: stop the crap & fix the issues with the ACA!!!
Get rid of ObamaCare once and for all.
Down with the Republican Party! The party of rich white donors and racist haters!
Obamacare cannot be fixed you Morons! It was a flawed concept built on economic ignorance from the beginning. If you incentivize people to not buy insurance until they're sick, people drop out of their healthcare insurance. The insurance companies have to raise the rates on the rest to cover the cost of care for the sick. In order for the insurance companies to remain in business they have to be given taxpayer money. Taxpayer money they would not need if government mandates didn't drive up the costs. Obamacare is a typical example of leftist economic stupidity. Let's turn the whole healthcare system on its head for 10% of the population, and forget about how it destroys the rest of the population.
