How have they been transporting medical marijuana for over a decade? This new "regulation" makes zero sense.
As a staunch supporter of legalizing recreational marijuana, I find this to be appalling. There is absolutely no positive outcome to allowing only traveling pigeons to deliver marijuana to their safe business locations. A local dealer has more flexibility.
This transportation of marijuana regulation is a waste of time, money, & resources. I get the regulation against transportation via air and drones. But, we travel by rail (BART, AmTrak, Muni, etc) as a method of general transportation. We use Ferries to commute across the SF Bay Area too. But then it gets truly inane; It's seriously against regulations to transport marijuana by "human powered vehicles" I.e. bicycle, skateboard, and scooters? Are we going to fine someone out on a bike ride with a joint in their pockets? I don't use marijuana but we made it legal for medicinal and recreational use- regulating its transportation in this way is just idiotic.
Hmmm...it doesn't say marijuana can't be moved by humans on foot or by draft animals such as horses, oxen, or mules. Does this mean it's legal to move marijuana in either of these fashions?
Recreational marijuana is inevitable.. quit living in the past
Oh well it leaves semi- truck delivery open ... just gonna have to organize neighborhood orders.
So how is it to be a commodity in the usual sense of the word if transport is banned
Wow, what a burdensome regulation on a legal industry. I bet this really stymies it's growth and ability to give law abiding citizens work and a cheap product. You know what, I bet this even incentivizes dangerous criminals and cartels who ignore laws anyway to keep a monopoly. Guess regulations aren't always so great huh Cheech?
Yes Cali, you keep it up!
Try living here in California. Its a mess. But It's hilarious to read the posts of liberals in our neighborhood. They vote for all this--sanctuary state and pot and now they are complaining on next door app that the neighborhood is getting horrible and unsafe. And I really love the liberal person who was complaining about her health insurance and how they denied her husbands eye surgery that he needed and she was a strong advocate of Obama care which made her insurance. You guys don't think about how good you have it in this country or the consequences before you vote for things. These are your consequences. Live with it. Let the pot be distributed however people want. It's too late now. Again consequences.
I am a voter in favor of marijuana, and this is a great idea. In all honesty, it is not safe to transport marijuana in the current economic and social climate, let alone by drone. There’s no need for armored transportation, but there is for security of it. If we want legal marijuana to stay and work we must accept that some measures must be taken to allow it to succeed or fail on its own.
Sounds like Jeff sessions
Give it up ! It is a no win situation. Focus on the adulteration of our food and leave marijuana alone.
They are right "Transportation (of marijuana) may not be done by aircraft, watercraft, rail, drones,human-powered vehicles or unmanned vehicles". These are being are currently being used to bring illegals in so of course they can't transport pot. Once again our 3rd world country being lead by president Jerry Brown & his merry band of men & women (Pelosi & Harris), have come up with another brilliant idea. Reminds me of Comedy Central.
WTF, California? Cannabis is legal here. It's too late to try and control it.
Government is so wrong, Regulating everything.
Well that's just dumb. I want my weed delivered via drone!
What worst case scenario is this trying to avoid? Yeah, really gotta watch out for those ISIS hackers trying to wrest control of our weed drones, huh. Those damn dope terrorists trying to strike at the heart of America. Just really seems like inconvenience for spite's sake.
The regulation does not restrict automobiles. I take human powered as a bicycle, so it can still be transported by car, truck, motorcycle.
