What’s Congress Voting On? Week of September 5, 2017

by Countable | 9.7.17

Congress returns from its summer recess Tuesday, and it’ll kickoff what’s looking to be a busy September with several notable bills on its agenda this week.

The House will consider several relatively uncontroversial bills on Tuesday, including legislation that would prohibit the IRS from seizing a person’s assets through civil forfeiture unless they’ve been charged with a crime. Later in the week it will vote on a bill to clarify the role of the federal government in regulating self-driving cars, and a $429 billion spending package that comprises eight of the 12 appropriations bills which are normally considered individually. It’s also expected to vote on an initial $7.85 billion disaster relief bill related to Hurricane Harvey, though additional emergency funding is expected to be considered at a later date.

The Senate will vote on the confirmation of Timothy Kelly to be a U.S. District Court Judge for District Columbia on Tuesday. Its schedule for the rest of the week is yet to be announced, although senators will likely try to quickly debate and approve the disaster relief funding bill once it’s passed by the House.

Check here throughout the week to see the vote results and updates to the schedule.

Keep DACA, work towards single payer healthcare, continue the Russian hacking investigation, do not create tax cuts for the rich while poor people suffer or eliminate Government agencies and institutions. Work on relief as storms worsen due to global warming/climate change. Work on diplomacy with other nations and avoid wars. And hold the President accountable up to and including his complete removal from office due to his violations of the emoluments clause!

Do something about DACA!! This has got to be one of the cruelest things our POTUS has done. Unimaginable. Some Christian nation we are. I am sick of my reps spouting all the time about their family values - be honest and come right out and say only rich white American born people matter.

Please do all you can (and be vocal about what constituents can do) to protect DACA-mented Americans and provide s legal path to citizenship. (And don't demonize their parents in the process)

Do not kill DACA; stop the president from hurting people who want a better life. Who are putting in work to become an asset to the community. Who just want an opportunity like the rest of us.

I don't see the 'Impeach Trump' bill on the bills to be addressed by congress/House this week. Is there no patriot among you? Waiting for total Democracy collapse or WW III?

    1) Focus Impeachment and Removal of Trump, his Family, Pence and Administration! Can Mueller's investigation be expedited?? 2) Don't give in to 2 faced Racists White Supremacist Trump, Pence, & Sessions. Protect the Dreamers, Every Life matters! 3) Texas Recovery Aid should be a Separate Bill by itself, as All Bills should be! 4) The Hell with the Wall! Just think... had it of been in place already, Harvey would have destroyed it. Waste of $, Not a Vital Priority, America doesn't need Trumps Division. If Trump wants this wall so dam bad then tell him to pay for it with all his supposed Billions of Dollars, not to mention the decades of his Tax Evasion, he owes America $$$$! 5) No Tax cuts for the Wealthy! America cannot afford to contribute not a penny more to "Corporate Welfare" Note; *Self-serving for Trump, his family & cronies isn't it? *Where's the Tax breaks for the other 98% of the rest of us that Trump promised during his campaign??? 6) America has more Important Priorities! We need Affordable Healthcare for All! We need "Safe" Water, Air, Soil, Roads, Bridges, Highways, Railways, Buildings, Schools, Municipalities, Programs, etc.. Enough is enough! 7) In regard to ACA; Fix it don't nix it! Leave Medicare & Medicaid alone. Inform Trump the American People are onto his lies and manipulations. The ACA is not a Complete Failure, It is not Collapsing, He and the GOP have been sabotaging it intentionally! The Funds subsidizing these entities are being held hostage. Stop Trump & GOP from Obstructing Justice!

Take action to "fix" DACA. ASAP. These are people who represent all that Trump and his kind pretend to respect in immigrants. It is reprehensible to thrust to back to countries they have never known. A deep shame on the US. Give them they citizenship they have EARNED. And raise the debt ceiling and pass a budget that isn't based on hate (that @&$ wall) and doesn't penalize the poor and old and disenfranchised and that provides adequate disaster aid where it is needed. Figure out a way to muzzle Trump before this country is ripped apart and thrust into war.

Disaster relief over everything else. Especially since you have a bigger and far more dangerous storm about to hit. Irma could obliterate an entire community and you need to be prepared to help now!

No budget crap should get done until DACA people are safe. Climate change needs to be affirmed (just that would be a step!) Look at wildfires in the west & hurricanes! Impeach the entire executive branch!
