What to Watch

What Everyone Is Watching
  • DACA. Today, the Trump administration will announce the fate of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. Rumor has it that Trump is planning on terminating DACA, but will delay the enforcement of the decision for six months so Congress can figure out what to do about the nearly 800,000 people who’ll be affected. DACA grants legal residency to immigrants who arrived in the country undocumented as children.
What’s Worth Watching
  • Hurricane Irma. Florida has declared a state of emergency for Irma, which was upgraded to a Category 4 storm on Monday night. Although the path of Irma isn’t certain, with memories of Harvey still fresh in everyone’s minds, no one is taking any chances. "In Florida, we always prepare for the worst and hope for the best," Florida Gov. Rick Scott said in a statement. "This state of emergency allows our emergency management officials to act swiftly in the best interest of Floridians without the burden of bureaucracy or red tape." The storm can be tracked here.

Welcome back. I am looking forward to a productive fall where you are able to collaborate and find an immediate and supportive legislative solution to sustain DACA, begin earnest efforts for negotiations (not sanctions) with North Korea resulting in reducing military tensions, and agree on funding that does not include a border wall. Perhaps this administration would be appeased with improved border security instead. Please be cautious of not supporting ANYTHING that will further strengthen the racist agenda of the white supremacy movement endorsed by this administration.

Keep DACA, work towards single payer healthcare, continue the Russian hacking investigation, do not create tax cuts for the rich while poor people suffer or eliminate Government agencies and institutions. Work on relief as storms worsen due to global warming/climate change. And hold the Presid...

Despite all of the distractions, we have not forgotten trump's many misdeeds. Impeach the racist, treasonous, incompetent, mentally unstable buffoon before he can do any more damage. America is the laughing stock of the world and it is past time to correct our mistake

It has seemed like a year long break with all the consequential news. We must immediately save DACA. Trump is hoping to pass some of the blame to Congress by delaying the impact for 6 months. Trump should be reprimanded by Congress for his neo Nazi views that were clearly unveiled to the nation. We clearly know what Trump us all about. He is a racist, fascist, bigot who cares only for himself. He is never going to care for Hurricane victims, DACA citizens, or anyone other than himself.
