What to Watch
What Everyone Is Watching
DACA. Today, the Trump administration will announce the fate of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. Rumor has it that Trump is planning on terminating DACA, but will delay the enforcement of the decision for six months so Congress can figure out what to do about the nearly 800,000 people who’ll be affected. DACA grants legal residency to immigrants who arrived in the country undocumented as children.
What’s Worth Watching
Hurricane Irma. Florida has declared a state of emergency for Irma, which was upgraded to a Category 4 storm on Monday night. Although the path of Irma isn’t certain, with memories of Harvey still fresh in everyone’s minds, no one is taking any chances. "In Florida, we always prepare for the worst and hope for the best," Florida Gov. Rick Scott said in a statement. "This state of emergency allows our emergency management officials to act swiftly in the best interest of Floridians without the burden of bureaucracy or red tape." The storm can be tracked here.
