As we mark the one-year anniversary of Hurricane Maria and the near-complete devastation of Puerto Rico, GLAAD urges our followers to show your support for Puerto Rico’s recovery by joining the call for more resources to be dedicated to Puerto Rico as it works to rebuild.
The Puerto Rican community and its diasporas, including those who are LGBTQ, continue to work tirelessly to help Puerto Ricans recover from the social, economic, environmental and other impacts of the storm, the blackout and the slow and underwhelming response of the federal government. #ReconstruyendoQ, a coalition of LGBTQ and allied organizations is leading recovery and restoration efforts for LGBTQ people on the island.
GLAAD is proud to partner with Take Action 4 Puerto Rico, for a day of action to bring people together around four pillars of Puerto Rico’s recovery: empowered citizenship, health care equity, climate change preparedness, and economic redevelopment.
Take action today by contacting your legislators and demanding that they increase resources for Puerto Rico's recovery.

Puerto Rico is a US territory and therefore deserving of the same amount of aid as any US state or municipality. The blatant racism surrounding the lack of aid provided to this nation is inexcusable. We should not have colonized/bought this territory, especially if we didn’t want to take care of it as our own.
Puerto Rico is a US territory, and must be treated with dignity and respect.
Such a situation would NEVER be allowed in the US so WHY are we allowing this to happen to one or OUR Territories?!?!?!
